METAL LAPEL BADGES - hard enamel
This is the most expensive finish available. Hard Enamel (Cloisonne) badges are the most traditional and ornamental material for badges, as it is said the colors can be preserved for 100 years without changing. All the colors are made from mineral or imported from Japan and ground into powder before coloring.
For hard enamel, the enamel is added before the plating is added, the enamel is added and polished flat to the same level as the metal die lines. Each colour must be baked in the oven one by one which adds to the process and cost. Once all the colours have been added then the badge can be electroplated and polished again to complete the badge. The numerous polishing process is why the badge can achieve slightly less detail than soft enamel and why some of the metal lines are likely to spread in production and be thicker than the original design. Our hard enamel process is a modern process of the traditional hard enamel process and the main difference between our hard enamels is the actual enamel.
Traditional hard enamel use glass based enamels which means pantone matching can not be achieved and the enamel has more pigment.
Does not require or recommend Epoxy Coating Dome.

PATCH BACKING OPTIONS
We have quite a few backing options available for our Cloth Patches to assist with there various usages.
Non Iron on - Standard
No Backing for patches –Patches without backings do not have the same thickness or stiffness as patches with backings; therefore, The best time to order No Backing patches is to sew them to clothing or other types of fabrics The back of your patch will be exposed and no backing will be applied during splicing. Patches with no backing are very flexible and lightweight.
Iron on Backing
Iron On backing for patches –It’s a fast and easy way to attach. Just put the patch on the clothing and cover it with a thin wet towel to prevent scalding. Then take the iron on the patch for 15-30 seconds until it is fully seated. Iron on backing provides an easy way to attach patches to almost any type of material.
Velcro Backing
Velcro Backing for patches –Our Velcro backing with high quality, hook & loop design. Velcro backings come with a hook-and-sew seam to your patch and a soft side ready to sew to your clothes. If you need to change new patches frequently or make other minor adjustments (such as military and police uniforms), hooks are the best option.
Adhesive Backing
Tape/Adhesive Backing for patches–Easily removable, versatile, and less permanent than other backings, tape backing is great for when you need a quick option for a costume or outfit. As the Adhesive backing is very Convenient, so the most popular and familiar backing for embroidered patches is adhesive backing.
